Swayambhu Mahotshav was started in 2025 (Februray 22 – 1 March) for the first time to celebrate culture and heritage which was an initiative of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward 15 held on Bhuikhel ground and Dharma Chakra Park. The festival portrays local identity and potential. Some highlights of 2025 were man-made handicraft, tradition, temples, stupas, cultural and social presentation, performance by locals and artists.
The festival has also helped to promote locally produced goods, woolen and fiber based clothing and products made by individuals and organizations trained in entrepreneurship and livelihood programs.
